What is maths anxiety

What is Math Anxiety?

Math anxiety is an emotional response to math that can cause feelings of fear, nervousness, and even physical symptoms like a racing heart or sweaty palms. This anxiety can make math seem much harder than it is, leading to avoidance and further anxiety.

Example: Imagine you have a math test tomorrow. Just thinking about it makes your heart beat faster, your hands get sweaty, and you feel like you can’t focus. This is math anxiety.

Solution for Parents and Educators:

● Acknowledge Feelings: Let children know that it’s normal to feel anxious
about math.
● Open Communication: Encourage children to talk about their fears and worries.
● Normalize Anxiety: Share stories of others who have overcome similar feelings.
